my rainy day story:

it was a nice, sunny day. i wore my shades walking to the bus, thinking 'this is a perfect day for the beach!' an hour and a bit later, and i meet up with my friend. we take the train over to the touristy island of beaches and over-commercialization. upon arrival, it is windy, the sky is looking a wee bit dark. ah well, it will pass.

we run into the water (well, she runs, i am slightly more hesitant) and soon realise the water is warmer than the air. the clouds get darker and come closer.
the beach guard announces 'there will be a storm warning.' and advises everyone to leave the water.
i assume that this is an english-speaking country, and so when they say 'there WILL BE' a storm warning, i assume they mean in the future, and not right now, and so i promptly stay in the water. minutes later and we are the only ones left in the water. the guard now personally comes over to us and kindly asks us to leave. we protest a little and he finally tells us that when it starts raining hard we need to leave. so we agree to that and keep swimming. then another guard comes over on his fancy-pants Segway and tells us to leave. he's a little firmer in his tone, so we reluctantly leave the warm water, and trudge back to our stuff.

we think to ourselves that the rain will pass quickly.
we are wrong.
it starts to POUR.
and we decide to walk over to a food court at another beach nearby so we can drink some hot kopi. it keeps raining harder and harder, and i am super paranoid about my camera.
when we are almost at shelter, i realise that i had an umbrella with me the whole time.
and didn't use it.
because i am smart that way.
so we laugh at me, and then we go drink some kopi and eat fruit.

we are sad that we still have white, white skin. but we are happy to be spending time with each other. all-in-all, it is a good day and we take pretty pictures after the rain is gone and we have dried off somewhat.

the end.
